Mounted on cloth, bound and cropped, disbound and silked by subsequent owners. Cleaned after removal of backings 1999; some fill remains. Sheathed in mylar. Title proper from original cartouche; number appears to have been added later.

Title proper from original cartouche; number appears to have been added later. First statement of responsibility and earlier date from cursive text above lower neat line: "by J Watkins 1778 the angles taken by a Small Pocket Compass and this Ground [mea]s[ur]ed by [pac]ing [???]" Erskine's title, two additional statements of responsibility, series date, series title and series numbering from separate index sheet filed at head of series.
