Having returned to New York from Wilton, Connecticut, Strong discusses his anxiety about cholera which is mostly gone from New York but continues elsewhere and which he worries will reoccur in the spring, the upcoming presidential election which he believes Andrew Jackson will win to the detriment of the country, meeting Albert Gallatin while in Connecticut by whom Strong was greatly impressed.
