Martha Leverich legal brief, [1754] Brief in a lawsuit in which Augustine Moore sued Martha Leverich to eject her from the tract of land on Hellgate Neck (Astoria) known as Van Harlem's lot, to establish his legal title to the property, and to collect damages; contains both Moore's and Leverich's claimed title histories; a peculiarity of the law as then practiced is that cases like this required the use of fictitious lessees, in this case "John Fenn" and "John Turnout" for Moore and Leverich, respectively.
