Strong, New York, to John Nelson Lloyd, Lloyd Neck, informing Lloyd of James Lloyd's death the previous evening, the funeral and burial arrangements, and a codicil to his will prepared by Strong, discussing the poor health of Lloyd's aunt Abigail Cogswell and her children, Sarah (Sally) and John, particularly concerning John Cogswell's state of mind (both Abigail and John would die within the month), and an upcoming trial at Coram in Suffolk County in which George Griswold is trying to have Hannah Woodhull's will declared invalid; Strong, Griswold's lawyer, would rather not attend.
