Account book of Henry Lloyd, 1707-1723, and John Lloyd, 1769-1784.

Account book, 1707-1723, of Henry Lloyd (1685-1763), merchant of Rhode Island, and later lord of the Manor of Queens Village and resident at Lloyd Neck, Long Island, and son of Boston merchant and early Long Island property owner James Lloyd (1650-1693); and, 1769-1784, of John Lloyd (1745-1792), merchant and farmer of Lloyd Neck and Henry Lloyd's grandson. The first portion of volume contains individual accounts for various trading ventures to Jamaica, London, and elsewhere, as well as numerous individual accounts with tradesmen and business associates. Later entries following Lloyd's relocation to the family property on Long Island ca. 1711 include household and farm expenses for Queens Village, as well as accounts for household slaves and individual accounts with Henry's brother Joseph Lloyd, brother in-law John Eastwick, and other members of the Lloyd family. Also included are inventories and accounts pertaining to the settlement of the estate of Henry's father, James Lloyd. The second portion contains account entries 1769-1784 by John Lloyd, chiefly relating to the Queens Village estate and his trade accounts. Prior to 1752 in England and the British colonies, New Year's Day was March 25. Entries in this account book for January-March 24 were entered with Old Style dates; the dates have been changed to New Style (e.g. January 15, 1706 has been changed to January 15, 1707). All leaves following opening [46] (second sequence), left, torn out.
