Book of receipts for payments made between 1779 and 1784 by Robert Townsend to various New York merchants and others including Hannah Cockle, his landlord. Some receipts made to Robert Townsend & Co. The period covered by this volume coincides with Townsend's service as a member of the Culper Ring spying for George Washington. Bound in blind-tooled calf with brass clasp.
