The earliest panoramic view of the East River and New York City, called "The Burgis View". Engraving from four plates on four sheets, issued circa 1719-1721. Drawn by William Burgis in 1717 from what is now known as Brooklyn Heights, and engraved in London by John Harris. Dedication reads: "To His Excellency Robert Hunter Esqr. captain general and governour in chief of the provinces of New York, New Jersey and territories depending thereon in America and vice admirall of the same, this south prospect of the city of New York is most humbly dedicated by Your Excellency's most humble & obedient servt.
