Strong, New York, to John Nelson Lloyd, Lloyd Neck, regarding a letter from his daughter Eloise, the source of the December 16, 1835 Great Fire, the effect of the fire on property values and rents, Lloyd's children, his son George's injury which kept him from attending college, and his having been nominated to be a professor of law at the University of the City of New York which he declines; with a postscript stating that he was also nominated to be a member of the governing council of the University, but doesn't know the outcome of the nomination.
