About the Creator: Born Julian Carl Magnus in Eberfeld, Germany, Charles Magnus (March 16, 1826 - May 3, 1900) was a printing entrepreneur from approximately 1850 to 1899. For a significant portion of his career, his work was based at 12 Frankfort Street in New York City. His business flourished, producing hundreds of varieties of prints, song sheets, maps, and envelopes. Many of his most well known envelopes and prints were printed during the American Civil War.
