New York's Own
The 7th Regiment

all of whom were in the Army of the United
States during World War II. Learning by do-
ing is emphasized. All have an opportunity to
command.

B SERVICE
in the Seventh Regiment entitles you to all
uniforms, pay, pension and other privileges
provided by Congress for the National Guard
of the United States. The pay rate is that of
the Regular Army; one day’s pay for each au-
thorized drill (48 during the year) and for
each day of attendance during two weeks sum-
mer camp training period.

m BUT
the greatest recompense for every true Seventh
man is his satisfaction in the performance of
his duty to his country; by helping to provide
a military establishment so strong that no na-
tion or group of nations will dare to attack it;
satisfaction in the realization that he is volun-
tarily fulfilling a basic obligation of citizen-
ship—the defense of his country; his pride in
the famous old Regiment of which he is a
member; and the pleasure of good fellowship
—a fellowship which endures even after his
active membership has ended, through the vet-
erans organizations of the Regiment.

1860 Tompkins Square Armory occupied;
first armory in N. Y.

1861 April 19. Departure for Washington.
Three months service.

1862 Federal service at Baltimore — three
months. N. Y. State adopted the name
National Guard for all its militia units.

1863 Federal service at Baltimore and Fred-
erick, Md. Regiment recalled to N. Y.
City to put down draft riots.

1877 Cornerstone of Park Avenue Armory
laid. Building to be owned by Regi-
ment on land leased from N. Y. City.

1880 Occupation of Park Avenue Armory.

1895 Brooklyn street car riots.

1900 Croton Dam riots.

1905 First Rifle Match with Queen’s West-

minsters, in England.
